The Pause Perspective

The Power of the Pause

Between stimulus and response there is a space.
In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

There’s a quote that has always stayed with me:

- Victor Frankl

In everyday life, that space can feel very small - or like it doesn’t exist at all.

When we’re overwhelmed, stressed or stuck in patterns, we tend to react automatically.
Overthinking, pushing through, shutting down or feeling pulled in too many directions.

The Pause Button is about gently creating more of that space.

Not stopping life - but slowing it down just enough to notice what’s happening, understand it more clearly and respond in a way that feels more intentional.

That’s where change starts.

About Me

I’m Alexandra - founder and counsellor at The Pause Button.

I’ve always been drawn to understanding how people think, feel and respond to the world around them. But more than that, I’ve always been interested in what actually helps when life feels complicated.

Like many people I work with, I’ve experienced periods where things felt overwhelming, uncertain or harder than expected. My own journey through secondary infertility, IVF, pregnancy loss and now balancing parenthood with professional life has shaped how I understand both challenge and support.

It’s also what reinforced something I see time and time again in my work: That pushing through isn’t always what we need.

Sometimes, what helps most is creating space - to reflect, reset and respond differently.

That idea sits at the centre of everything I do.

I aim to offer a space that feels calm, grounded and easy to talk in.
Somewhere you don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan before you start.
